Overview

Darwin Experience is a Kayak crossing on the Santa Cruz River, El Calafate. We do about 15 km of paddling until we reach a typical Patagonian stay where we will wait for you with an outdoor lunch.

If you love water and...

If you love water and kayaking, this tour is a must. It was very well planned and safe. Our guide Ruben was fantastic! Kayaking down the Santa Cruz River is a whole new perspective of Patagonian nature and wildlife. And the food and hospitality: fantastic! Highly highly recommend!

The Darwin Experience was truly unforgettable. From start to finish, Ruben and Pablo took such great care of us — their attention, kindness, and knowledge made the experience feel really special. Kayaking on the river Santa Cruz at this time of year was magical; we had the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel like a private adventure in nature!

Easy paddle and helpful guides

Very enjoyable kayak of around 9 miles in a Class 2 River. Guides very knowledgeable and friendly. Helped all the way from putting on the dry suits to helping with stroke suggestions in the Eddy swirls! Outstanding meal, authentic and delicious after a long paddle! We saw a gaucho on a horse, many waunako’s, and some ducks. The chef and associated staff all very helpful and kind. Highly recommend this muy divertido experience! Thank you Mindful Travel for arranging!

This was an amazing experience in El Calafete. Reuben was a great guide for whom safety was paramount. The equipment was top notch and the dry suits kept us well insulated from the cold. You do need a moderate level of fitness as it is a river with some strong currents and you need to work hard at times to keep the boat straight but Reuben was always there to help us and guide us safely. I’d highly recommend doing this trip. The lunch afterwards was amazing - one of the best meals we have eaten in Argentina

I enjoyed the kayaking and the beautiful surroundings along the Rio Santa Cruz. A tasty barbecue lunch provided a pleasant ending to the experience. The trip was organized and carried out expertly by the guide Ruben Valle.
