A Guided Tour of Verona We Thoroughly Enjoyed Every Minute

The day started right on time with our host meeting us at the front entrance to our apartment building. We began by driving to the high point of Castel San Pietro to overview old Verona and identify its famous buildings, landmarks and the city layout and hear about its history starting from ancient times. From there we went to the Valpolicella wine region and to a world class winery for wine tasting and a light lunch. We then drove to a small village giving a high vantage point to view the southern region of Lake Garda. There we had an expresso sitting in the piazza with Lake Garda and the southern Italian Alps filling our view. Following that we drove to a couple of villages on the lake and enjoyed walking beside the lake in the afternoon sunshine feeling the fresh breeze coming off the mountain waters. Our host was passionate for his city, its past, its industry, and its surrounds and we enjoyed hearing the information and history he explained to us.

Alessandro was excellent. We wanted to see the lake and learn a little of its history, and we were expecting a standard tour with a couple of stops. We got much more than that. Alessandro took us on a very personal tour, stopping at unusual spots that are significant to him. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour much more informative, meaningful…and fun! Beautiful scenery, tasty food and drink, engaging history and culture lessons. Highly recommended!

The trip included a brilliant visit to a local vineyard where we gained a real insight into wine cultivation and processing, included the opportunity to taste several excellent wines. We reluctantly left this beautiful countryside to visit several small and picturesque towns and villages as well as the magnificent ruins of a Roman villa overlooked by the mountainous backdrop to Lake Garda. Before travelling back to our Verona hotel we sat in the sun outside a small harbourside cafe enjoying iced drinks and homemade ice cream. A fitting conclusion to a most pleasant day. Big 'thank you' to Isabella our guide for hosting this very pleasant trip.

This was our third tour with locals and have been very happy with each. Isabel\u2019s picked us up and then took us to many locations throughout the Garda Lake and Volpolicelli area. Started with a wine tasting with one of the winery owners who is 6th generation family owners. Great information in casual setting with great tasting wines.\nMoved into Garda Lake where we made various sites for lunch and scenery . Isabella was very informative and attentive to what we were interested in seeing.\nHighly recommend booking a tour with Isabella and Tour with Locals you won\u2019t be disappointed.
